How much does producing a podcast cost?

Between "free with my phone" and "€10,000 per episode with a production crew", there is a world. Here are the real orders of magnitude, line by line, so you decide where your money works hardest.

Option 1: do everything yourself

Two decent mics, a camera, lights, a presentable backdrop: expect €1,500 to €3,000 upfront, plus hours of setup at every recording. The real cost hides there: installation time, takes ruined by a sound issue discovered in the edit, and a result that stays below the standard your audience sees everywhere else.

Option 2: a studio, per session
